Steam Punk Bib

Project Description

Who is this project for? Unisex What are you most proud of? The back of this piece is smooth and none of the wire wrapping shows - it has good visual balance and a nice feel when worn. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you can't find the metal base I used here you can make the same type bib with a screen metal base. As in metal screen door metal. This type of metal screen has to have the edges rolled to prevent the woven texture from separating. I normally use a flat plier for this. I'd then cover the back with faux leather to give it a nice finished look.

sewmom asked:
I love this!! One of the more wearable steampunk looks I've seen. I would love to see a photo of the back.
roycecreative answered:
I will try to add a photo of the back in the next few days

I have been dying to make a steampunk project and I have lots of parts from old watches, etc., but had no idea how to begin. I thought I would have to get my son to teach me how to solder, but your instruction and advice has given me a completely different idea about where to begin. Thank you so much for sharing.
roycecreative answered:
so glad to help - it's amazing what you can do with some 24 gauge wire

Love this! And so would my daughter, who is very much into Steam punk.
roycecreative answered:
The hardest part to making this stuff is finding the watch parts - I've had to really hunt to find them.
Rockland Rocks asked:
For watch parts, try Pizazzbeads.com. I got a small bag of neat watch parts for $5.97.
roycecreative answered:
Pretty interesting stuff on their site and they have a sale on now - :)
