I love this, I think it is beautiful!! But I'm a little confused at the end with the knotting. Also can you use something other than monofilament?

You can try using 6lb fireline. Do you know what a half hitch knot is? That's what you need to do, then thread thru the next bead before cutting. Try looking half hitch knot on Internet.
