Dragonfly Freeform

Project Description

Who is this project for? Women What are you most proud of? This was my first completed freeform project, and I am still thrilled with the way it turned out. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Let it flow. Let the work speak to you. And if it stops speaking, put it aside, do something else for a bit, then go back to it. But whatever you do, don't let it get the better of you. You will be so proud when it works!

What you will need

  • Delicas
  • other Japanese seed beads (size 11 & 15)
  • Swarofski crystals
  • Fireline
  • metal bead hearts & dragonflies
  • large metal button

Q&A with m-bellishment

DSCLaura asked:
Fantastic, I might just take your advice and go Free Form! Did you find that one kind of stitch works better than others?
m-bellishment answered:
In this piece I used peyote, herringbone, netting, and in others I've added square and brick stitches. What I have found is that the piece itself, in the way it developed, and was restrained by the size of the piece and the choice of colours, along with how they blended together. The other factor was whether or not there was a focal element. In this case there was, and that's where I started. Everything evolved form there.
