Coral Earrings

Project Description

Who is this project for? Women What are you most proud of? I feel good that I made all the components of these earrings except for the headpins, and of course the beads/gemstones! What advice would you give someone starting this project? I asked my sister-in-law what her favorite 3 colors to wear (clothing) were, and coral was one of the colors she likes best. Since I tend to try to match the jewelry I wear to my clothes, I thought it was a good idea to ask her what colors she likes to wear so I could make her something to match. Just something to keep in mind if you are making something special for someone you know!

What you will need

  • Handmade sterling silver ear wires. Natural pink Coral rounds
  • faceted Watermelon Tourmaline
  • fiesta pink Glass Pearls and faceted Czech Fire-Polished Crystals. A Crystal Quartz briolette and a faceted pink Chalcedony briolette.

Q&A with Cindy Watkins

Aga Kruk asked:
Cindy, I really like this project and perfect wire-wrapping. Good job!
Cindy Watkins answered:
Wow, Thank you Aga!! Such a nice compliment coming from you really brightens my day!
Cathyherbsew asked:
I love this pair of earrings and the Chalcedony & apatite ones. I miss seeing your jewelry creativity here on craftsy. I finally bought a Loratone tumbler and have been experimenting with making headpins out of SS or Argentium. The tumbler makes it soooo much easier to get them polished. Its harder than I thought to get those balled ends to hang straight off the wire after putting them in the torch. I need to try more soldering of rings like your copper hoops that turned out well-devoting the time to a project is challenging for me.
Cindy Watkins answered:
Wow, thank You Cathy! Your work is Lovely!! I Very much miss making jewelry. I was just getting started with soldering when I had to quit. Medication makes my hands shake. 3 years and I'm still trying to find an alternative. :( Having the tumbler makes all the difference doesn't it? Do keep trying soldering. It can be tricky but so cool when you get it! Small pieces of solder for small items. I'm thinking of trying to make something again one day. I really hope I can do it because I loved it so much. Aga was/is great insipration
