Pattern Details

The herringbone pattern is a classic but very popular and pretty design. My take on it here is to further embellish it by the addition of tiny beads giving it a richer, almost Victorian look. This tutorial will take you through all the steps for making the green earrings and the additional steps needed for the blue earrings tassel. The materials given here are only for the green earrings. As a bonus I have included written instructions for making a matching bangle and cocktail ring. Every measurement is given in both metric and imperial systems. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY wire wrapping Making loops making spirals SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 5cm/2in.

  • 1.2m (4ft) of 0.5mm(24 gauge) dead soft wire

My passion for jewellery designing and making started 12 years ago with a silversmithing course and I have since embraced other techniques such as stringing, bead weaving, chain maille, resin but my true love is wirework in which I now specialize. I have contributed a monthly project to Beads & Beyond for the past 3 years, written numerous tutorials which I sell on my website and I am the author of The Absolute Beginner's Guide: Making Wire Jewellery (published by Kalmbach books) which teaches you in great detail all the basic techniques you need to become proficient at wirework. Don't forget to download my free tutorial about the basic tools you need to get started in wirework.
