PATTERN DETAILS

This tutorial will teach you to construct the Box chainmaille weave also known as Queen's Link. This is a weave suitable for even beginners to chainmaille and is so versatile! Just look at the other pics to the right to see some of the jewelry that I have created with this beautiful chain. This weave is particularly striking in mixed metals! The bracelet in the main picture was done with sterling silver, copper and 14kt gold filled rings. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knowledge of the proper technique for opening and closing jump rings without distortion

Recommended with this pattern

  • 2 pairs of smooth jawed pliers (I use one flat nose and one chain nose)
  • precut rings in the recommended sizes
  • pick or small knitting needle (optional, but helpful until you get the hang of the weave)

I think I was born into creativity. With a goldsmith for a grandfather, a photographer for a father and a silversmith/glass artist for a mother it was unavoidable! I've worked in many mediums over the years, but my favorites are the precious metals and polymer clay. I love the elegance and richness of silver and gold, while polymer clay satisfies my need to sculpt and to "create life"! Recently I've discovered the joy of fiber arts and I'm learning to spin and knit.
