Romeo's Chair Re-deux

Project Description

What type of item is this? Home Decor How would you describe the style of your project? Retro / Vintage How would you describe the style of your project? Whimsical What are you most proud of? This was my first upholstery project. I think I did a pretty good job (did not want to pay the high cost of the work here in Geneva, Switzerland). What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go slow, and don't be in a hurry (prevents making too many mistakes). If it is your first time doing a type of project, don't be afraid to 'do-over' by ripping out stitches and removing your new paint if needed. Make sure you have the proper tools! While it is NOT economical to get furniture re-upholstered here in Geneva, Switzerland (they wanted five thousand dollars to recover these chairs), if you are anywhere else it is probably worth it to have someone else do it for you!

That must have give you a rush when you were finished!! Say--I saw a chair at the thrift store today for only $15. It looks kind of like this but the wood on the arms and legs is straight. I wonder if you can switch them out to this swirly and curved kind?
Wassupspock answered:
Thanks! $15 for a bergere chair is a fantastic price. In principle, I guess you could switch out the arms -- would you make the new ones yourself?
