Retractable Sewing Table/Sideboard

What type of item is this? Home Decor How would you describe the style of your project? Casual How would you describe the style of your project? Funky What are you most proud of? I had never attempted leafing before as the thought of it scared me. Thanks to the skills taught in Lesson 10: Art Deco End Table, I found it much easier than I had anticipated. I'm also proud that I was able to create the missing trim piece by applying the skills learned in Lesson 12: Radio Cabinet using Sculpey Baking Clay (I choose a low VOC option rather than Bondo). What advice would you give someone starting this project? First, take the Drab to Fab Course! When leafing, gently press a piece of wax paper over top the leaf while still in the book and gently pick up. It makes it much easier to place the leaf onto your sizing with better precision. I burnished the silver leafing using fine OO steel wool in a circular motion with very light pressure. I prefer using soft wax to seal furniture but in this case, as it was a sewing table, I was concerned the wax may stain the fabrics and so I opted for a satin polyurethane finish instead.
