Project Description

What are you most proud of? Finishing it! It took me 218 hours, which is a long project for me (about five months--an average project for me is about two months). And I feel like it turned out really beautiful. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you know how to count, you can do this project--but if you are a relative beginner, it might not be a bad idea to do one of the triangles in a cotton floss on a doodle cloth first--just to get the hang of it before you start working with the silks!

What you will need

  • 24-ct. white Congress cloth
  • Soie Perlee
  • Au Ver a Soie
  • Gumnuts Stars and Aztecs
  • and Elegance (all silks) as well as the metallics Accentuate
  • Bijoux
  • and Hi-lights.

Mama Judy asked:
Beautiful work! Wish I could see a close up photo though - hard to decipher the stitches from the photo.
PatriciaLove answered:
See above for a larger picture and more details on the pattern! Thanks for your compliment--it went straight to my head. :-)

Would love to see a large photo also. I am going to look for more info on this. I love embroidery.

Sorry for the late reply--life does get in the way, doesn't it? You can view a larger photo here: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2034013740096170048oCtRkq
DeeAnna asked:
Which company or who designed this pattern? I'd love to give this project a go as well. Thanks for sharing! Your work is amazing!!!
PatriciaLove answered:
It's called Tessellations, by Orna Willis. You can find it on her Web site (http://www.ornadesign.com/), but be forewarned, it's PRICEY. The pattern isn't too bad (it's "only" $30), but the supplies are (gulp!) $465. It uses all silks and metallics, and most of them aren't carried at local shops--I think I had to order them from several different places. If you have a robust stash, you might be able to substitute a lot of the threads... Hope you enjoy it if you do it--I know I did, and I was really pleased by the outcome. Thanks for the nice compliment!

Thank you!

Thank you for the pattern info. I may just have to try this. Gorgeous!
PatriciaLove answered:
It's super easy, because it's just the same triangle of stitches over and over again--but with different colors of threads. I love her patterns--I have about 10 of them. :-) Good luck!
