Claire & Allen's Wedding sampler

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I'm proud to have managed to get it from home in Ireland to England for the wedding via coach! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Try not to overthink what to put in the piece and keep it relatively simle otherwise it can become overcrowded and difficult! I started with the obvious things, i.e the date and surname. Try to include personal references in a subtle way, e.g using colours they like, symbols that have a special meaning, etc. Also remember that this is for someone else to display so consider what would they like to have hanging on their wall! Choosing the frame was quite difficult as I knew that they had recently decorated and wasn't sure what they had done. I did know that they had bought an old dresser and were going to paint it off white and leave the worksurface natural. Claire is a great lover of all things retro and tea parties and so I settled for something to go in a gentle country style. They loved it!

What you will need

  • Basic embroidery yarn in the colours that suited my requirements. Single strand for main verse and any outlining. Double strand for everything else. Cream Aida 14 count.

Q&A with rayanne1959

Dana Bradley asked:
I love this! great gift idea.
rayanne1959 answered:
Thanks, Dana. this was for my niece. I had made a wedding sampler for her sister, Katherine in 2009. I need a good picture of it to show it here. I have recently finished another project for friends getting married in October and hope to have it shown soon.
