I've always been fascinated with Celtic Knots and their intricate designs. The Triquetra means triangle or three, and was and still is a popular design in the Celtic folk art tradition. It won't take you long to stitch up this little mat once you have the knot figured out. This mat is pretty with a candle or just by itself. I've been crafting and sewing for years. As a child a loved making hand puppets out of old socks, friendship bracelets, and cutting out paper dolls. My real passion became machine sewing when i was 13. i made many of my own clothes during high school, including my graduation dress. During university i took a hand tailoring class and a flat pattern design class, as a little breather from my Chemistry and Environmental Studies degree. I worked as a land use and environmental planner for several years in Saskatchewan, channeling my creative instincts towards learning many design programs in the engineering field. When my husband asked me to return to his home province of Prince Edward Island, i switched careers to become a stay at home mommy to 2 small children. After adjusting to life at home, i began crafting again. In 2003, i was adjudicated and awarded membership with the Prince Edward Island Crafts Council for my penny rugs, bunny blankets and tinpunch. I've been growing slowly but determinedly ever since.
