This pattern was inspired by Maori designs. I originally worked this design with a series of others on a set of napkins to give to my sister in law from New Zealand. It incorporates multiple elements: The Circle of Life which includes the path of life ever ongoing, with no beginnings and no end. Koru (Spiral) is the symbol of new growth, new life, peace and tranquility. In this design there is a circle within a circle and waves spiraling around it. Included in the patter are a range of different sizes of the pattern: 4 inches, 3.5 inches, 3 inches, and 2.5 inches. I am the craftiest daughter of a very crafty mother. She taught me a lot of crafty basics when I was young. In k-12, I used to get in trouble for drawing on my schoolwork. Later on I picked up a paintbrush and taught myself how to paint. For a brief period in college, I played with a computer based paper doll program (kisekae) and I got quite handy with a mouse. Today, I use my chronic doodling habit to develop cross stitch and embroidery patterns. I'm taking a break from designing patterns to work on a crazy quilt project. There are several new embroidery designs that I'm developing for this project. When it's done, I will work on publishing them as patterns here.
