A circular design of bright summer blooms I designed this embroidery in tandem with Pollen, while still living in London. I spent many lunch breaks in the churchyard down the road from my then office sketching and coming up with stitches that would bring the flowers to life. I chose colours that reminded me of heat and sunshine, and a name reminiscent of hot, long and lazy summer days. This is a 20-page digital pattern in PDF format. The pattern includes: Needle and thread requirements : A list of the DMC six-stranded cotton colours and the required needle types and sizes for the embroidery. Transfer instructions : Various options for transferring the design on to fabric. Full, illustrated embroidery instructions : The stitch types, DMC thread colours and number of strands to use are given in full, as well as any additional instructions needed to complete the embroidery. Reference photographs : Full-colour, close-up photos for reference when stitching each section of the design. Full-size design : The design is given at actual size (100%) for easy home printing, as well as at 50% for you to enlarge. The embroidered design measures 13x13" (33x33cm). Reversed design : The design is also given in reverse, should you want to use the iron-on transfer method, and includes a transfer test design. Printing : The PDF document is set up to fit on A4 or US letter sized paper when printed on a home printer. Tips : Tips scattered here and there in the pattern help make the most of your embroidery. I quickly ran out of projects to stitch when I first started embroidering and began coming up with my own more modern designs, using the skills I'd picked up working in the media industry. It was a small leap from there to making these designs available to others. I launched my website and first online pattern shop in 2009 while living in London, UK. But I now work from home in Johannesburg, South Africa, coming up with fresh, contemporary designs that use a variety of surface embroidery stitches.
