In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Professor Dolores Umbridge found it acceptable to punish students with a blood quill. Poor Harry ended up with a scar across his hand proudly declaring, "I must not tell lies." This pattern will make a nice detail for a Harry Potter fan. Sew it into a quilt, pillow or wall hanging. Stitch it onto an existing bag, shirt or bookcover. Wherever you put it, will proudly express your solidarity with the Boy Who Lived. Hand embroidery pattern measures: 8"x8" Given that this pattern is inspired by a series of beautifully written books (and some fantastic movies) and not born solely from my own imagination, it will always be free for use by anyone and is expressly for personal and nonprofit use. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Stem Stitch or Backstitch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 8 inches square

I am the craftiest daughter of a very crafty mother. She taught me a lot of crafty basics when I was young. In k-12, I used to get in trouble for drawing on my schoolwork. Later on I picked up a paintbrush and taught myself how to paint. For a brief period in college, I played with a computer based paper doll program (kisekae) and I got quite handy with a mouse. Today, I use my chronic doodling habit to develop cross stitch and embroidery patterns. I'm taking a break from designing patterns to work on a crazy quilt project. There are several new embroidery designs that I'm developing for this project. When it's done, I will work on publishing them as patterns here.
