Q&A with JCasey

Patrick Connors asked:
[criticism cont.] It may be good practice to draw this scene again, and give the foreground a tonal structure that corresponds to that in the middle ground. It may be necessary to adjust some of your tonal ideas or modeling that you have made in this drawing. By the way, what did you think of the toned border? All-in-all, a fine drawing. I look forward to seeing the post of your next drawing.
JCasey answered:
Thanks, Patrick, for the guidance. You said, " I cannot endorse this idea of drawing something several times or more; and with each time something else reveals itself whether in the drawing or in the scene itself.". Did you mean you cannot endorse this idea ENOUGH? I have been unable to draw in the last weeks. As I head out to the woods by what you suggest with giving "the foreground a tonal structure that corresponds to that in the middle ground" I'm assuming this means more detail and darker in the foreground? I did like the border suggestion as it helps to focus on what I am trying to really depict.
