Self portrait progress

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. Conte crayons, colored pencils, acrylic paint What are you most proud of? I think the nose is looking better. Maybe the problem is the forehead size compared to the chin. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take pictures with your phone to compare and catch mistakes.

Q&A with iambecs

davit.bak3268446 asked:
I just noticed that the chin may appear smaller because of the dark line around it and going up the right side of the face. Just a thought.
iambecs answered:
Yes that was my feeble attempt to add back some meat. I started using a colored pencil to shade the hair in next to the cheek, but I couldn't color over it with the pastels because of the wax base, so I used paint, which didn't turn out great either. I'm with you though. I think I see what's off. I have jut decided I'm going to try and do one a day even if it's quick. Eventually I'll get there. :) Part of the problem is intimately knowing what your face looks like. Thanks for the feedback. I always appreciate it. :)
