Q&A with Jo la Fleur

Cynthia Knox asked:
Robin, this is another luscious floral portrait! You really have the hang of this, and I love it. The contrast is fabulous -- bright and bold petals with strong highlights and then delicate, fluffy little stamens that look so perfect. Re the background, mat this with a colored mat like a dark green or even black. That will give you the border that will turn this into a fully completed looking piece, and you'll be glad that you didn't do a background. It will look like a sweet botanical piece. :)
Jo la Fleur answered:
Thank you so much Cynthia. I have tried a black border and it does look nice. Also scanned it - ok but the colours are not as true as with the photograph. I have learned so much from you and feel so much more confident with this new media of coloured pencil. Onwards and upwards!!!
Cynthia Knox asked:
Thank you for your kind words, Robin! Scanning, printing, etc. - never as good as the original. However, your artwork is showing really well on my computer screen, and it's always a joy to see it.
Jo la Fleur answered:
My pleasure. Agreed - unless one has top notch equipment the work never looks the same as the original. Glad my work gives you joy!!
