Mountain Lion Cub

Gemma's instruction was excellent! This was my first time using suede mat board as a substrate. I took a chance using black mat board, since it was all that I could find in a small size. It proved difficult to cover with the pencils, so I think I will try using a lighter color next time. I am happy with the results, however. Reference photo by Cindy Fry - used with permission.

Q&A with C. Gemme Messier

Gemma Gylling asked:
You did a terrific job on this cub. It's very difficult to use the black suede mat board, so you should be very proud of yourself.
C. Gemme Messier answered:
Thank you, Gemma! I was questioning my choice of materials throughout the process, wishing I had tried harder to find a more suitable color to use, but I was impatient to get started. You're work is inspirational and your instruction was excellent. I never would have thought to use suede mat board for color pencil work. I love learning new techniques and using different media. Thank you for a wonderful new learning experience!
