Q&A with Bright Morning

Patrick Connors asked:
Welcome back Bright Morning, Your drawing is an ambitious rendering of Log Hope Valley. Congratulations, you made big improvements over your past two assignments. [By the way, are you still reading Montague and Kubovy?] One thing to consider is not bring parts of the drawing too finish to quickly. By this I mean that some pictorial structures are unresolved but you have placed the detail. Your planar structure look solid; but the tonal structure needs work, mostly in the distance. It may help if you reformat your reference image into a black & white one. In looking at your drawing it may have helped if you had started with general tones throughout and then developed from there. That being, you seem to be resolving the tonal structure at this stage. It is more difficult to do at this stage but keep working. Well done! I look forward to seeing how you resolve this.
Bright Morning answered:
Thank you so much for the feedback. I motivates me to keep working. I want to go back to that location and take more pictures of that log. I like that log.
