Lesson 6 - Practice landscape

Project Description

What type of piece is this? Painting Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. Decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and did a landscape for my watercolor class. Applied what I have learned so far about landscapes to my watercolor picture. First did two thumbnail sketches, one is a value sketch and the other is a birds-eye-view, both using a graphite 6B pencil. Then I did the drawing on tracing paper and transferred it to the watercolor paper. For the watercolor painting I used Arches cold press 140 lb paper, 10 1/4" x 14 1/8" (26x36 cm) a round mop #24, a round #8, a 1/2 in. flat and a #6 rigger brush. In general I am happy with the result, although there is always room for improvement.
