Patrick Connors asked:
Hello zwiegea, Welcome to Perspective in Landscape Drawing. Congratulations on posting your first drawings for the course. Two questions: 1.) What are the dimensions of your drawings? and 2.) What was the inspiration for these drawings? Is there a reference image you could post? Emptiness- and filling a void- are profound themes in art. Despite the seemingly modest aims of the course "showing nothingness" is in the purview of the course. A few compositional changes could greatly enhance the space and may give the nothingness you desire. The first thing to do is to lower the eye-level line in the composition so that the sky expands to 2/3 or 3/4 of the dimensions of the paper. Second, scale the buildings down, make them smaller. In perspective, this means that you are moving the picture plane closer to you and further away from the models that you are drawing. Start with those changes and see if they help. I look forward to seeing the posting of your next drawing.
