Q&A with marlisa_27870088

Cynthia Knox asked:
Marlisa, your hibiscus is vibrant and luscious against the black background. I love your highlights! The flower has beautiful translucency because of them. Black backgrounds can be very tedious if you want to avoid discernible strokes. I generally start in the upper left corner and draw tiny overlapping circles of black from top to bottom, left to right, using firm pressure. This covers all of the paper and eliminates specks of white showing through.
marlisa_27870088 answered:
Thank you, Cynthia, for that tip. I do appreciate your prompt response. I have appreciated doing this course. It has certainly changed the way I look at flowers. I was walking along a building one day looking at the leaves of a flower and saying in my mind, "Oh, I would start with chartreuse if I had to colour that!" Best wishes. You are a great teacher.
