hashtag/icm2014 - Rio Grande Zoo Zebras

Project Description

What was your source for this piece? Other Tell us a little more about your inspiration. One of my favorite things to do as an artist is to go to our local zoo and photograph the animals in unique "poses" with natural light, trying to capture as much movement as possible. I loved the photo I took last Fall of the Rio Grande Zoo zebras, so decided to paint this one. What type of piece is this? Painting Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. This one was a lot of fun! I lightly sketched, then painted the shadows, as if they were white horses. I added all the stripes last. I mostly use M. Graham Watercolors, as well as Winsor & Newton, and some Daniel Smith. Arches 140-lb. paper, cold-press.
