Hank #PetLove

Project Description

What was your source for this piece? Online Photo or Website What type of piece is this? Painting Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. My dear cousin sent me a few photos of her lovely rescue dog Hank to work with. After selecting a photo to work with, I play around with the levels and contrast in photoshop before sketching and then painting the portrait. This was my first pet portrait, and was very challenging, was many times convinced it would come out hideous. The life really came out in the final detailing of the hair and the highlights in the eyes. Learned so much from this portrait. Is the piece for sale? No What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time. Keep looking at the source, paint what is there, not what you think should be there. And keep going when you think you've probably ruined it.
