Eddington-Winter Wonderland Contest 2013

What type of piece is this? Painting Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. I completed this watercolor (18"x24") last month, inspired by the birds that stick around my Illinois home after most of them have migrated. It's called "Tougher Than the Rest." I used Old Holland watercolors, and after I finished the preliminary drawing, I worked on the branches for about a week. I used drybrush on top of wet-into-wet layers to create a rough, weathered texture, and I used the same techniques on the cardinal's feathers to make them look soft and puffy. I loved the female cardinal's subtle colors. Is the piece for sale? Yes Link to website or online shop kellyeddington.com
