Q&A with Nogoodnicksleft

Roberto Osti asked:
Nice works, the proportions between the various parts of the body are nice, blocking in the shadow mass is a very nice touch and very efficaciously adds volume to the figures. The lines in your drawings are very fluid and tell of a good hand- eye coordination. I am glad you are taking inspiration from the works of the masters, we all have a lot to learn from them. Your work might benefit from differentiating the thickness of the line and also think and draw with an eye toward the volumes. I prepared a few quick sketches that I am posting so you can see what I mean, I hope the drawings are clear, if not , please do not hesitate to ask for more elaboration on the theme, the title of these sketches is "Line".
Nogoodnicksleft answered:
Thank you for the kind words. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are copies of sketches done by the artist Harry Carmean. These particular drawings that I've copied are more of a sketch like nature rather than one of his more finished drawing. The fluidity of lines and the block shading are really down to him (he has a nice way of defining the edge of the shadow with just a little jagged squiggle). The last picture are some of my attempts to imitate this style of drawing but creating the figures out my head. You can see that they are less fluid and much more amateurish. Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing what you have uploaded. Thank you again regards J
Roberto Osti asked:
I posted the images about "Line" a few days ago but they did not show up in "Projects" yet, I will try again and try to figure out what happened, sorry for the delay, Best Roberto
Nogoodnicksleft answered:
Yes I found them yesterday using the search facility. They don't seem to be linked directly to the lesson like other stuff you posted. Cheers J
Roberto Osti asked:
That is pretty good!

Thanks :)
