Rhapsody necklace, tatting, frivolite

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Somehow the pinks in the variegated thread put themselves on the outside of the design, the greens in the middle. This was just a happy accident, totally unplanned :-) What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a project from the Shuttle Tatting course on Craftsy.

What you will need

  • Lizbeth thread
  • 6mm round bead
  • size 8 seed beads
  • gold-plated chain

Q&A with Marilee Rockley

scraplady asked:
OMG!!! Is this for sale Marilee? This is exactly what I was looking for!!!
Marilee Rockley answered:
I'm planning on putting it in my display at "Jewelry at the Domes" next weekend, but if it doesn't sell there, I may list it in my Etsy shop. But, you could make one like it - it's a class project! I used Lizbeth size 10 in color #124 Spring Garden.
kfoley3071030227 asked:
Where do I find the Lizbeth thread? Do I need a needle? What type?
Marilee Rockley answered:
Sources for Lizbeth thread and other tatting supplies are listed under "Materials" for the Craftsy tatting course. The Resources page has a list of online shops, links to other tatting sites, etc. The Patterns pages have all the patterns in the course. This pattern is the "Rhapsody" necklace from lesson 8. I designed it for shuttle tatting, but I think it should work okay for needle tatting as well.
PenolopyBulnick asked:
This is beautiful! And I love the thread color! Do you only use the threads you have hand dyed?
Marilee Rockley answered:
Thanks, but this project was done in a commercially dyed thread - Lizbeth #124 Spring Garden.
quiltgrl asked:
This is really beautiful and can't wait to start this one.
Marilee Rockley answered:
Thanks, it's a fun project. I hope you'll have fun with it!
