My grandson baby shawl

What was your source for this crocheting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo No34 Shell Shawl Pattern Link to website or photo www.ebay item number330923960713 What are you most proud of? I am most proud of the fact that I managed to complete the shawl in time for him to be born despite the fact that shortly after starting it I fractured my right wrist. I have since had the plaster removed but remain having problems from chronic regional pain syndrome (crps). I actually believe that doing the crochet helped me in my recovery and was great physio. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This project is a beautifully easy and a stunning piece to do. The shawl can be easily individualised and is beautiful to look at. I completed this project in a colour change wool as we didn't know the sex when I started it. This will be a great confidence booster for a beginner to crochet. I decided that the original pattern wasn't big enough so made it half as big again and also added more shell rows on the edging in a solid colour wool once we knew the gender of baby.

You Can Make This

  • I used King Cole Melody double knitting wool with a 6mm hook although original pattern used an aran yarn and a 5mm crochet hook.
