Project

Grey V-stitch Vest

What are you most proud of? I looked at her old work, measured and figured out from her finished garment how to construct one of my own. I did write my instructions down and photograph the process. I probably left out some steps, but I now have a really good start on designing my own original vest pattern from scratch. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be patient. Get a tape measure and be sure to measure your body before starting. I like to use the foundation stitch instead of the chain stitch because it gives a little flounce to the bottom edge and does not require any further finishing. Be sure to mark the center back of the garment and the places where the arm holes will go with contrasting yarn. Do a practice swatch with the V stitch just to get used to the pattern.
