Christmas Red Reversible Placemat

What are you most proud of? I like the way the different tones worked together for the plaid design. The added gold accent gives added sparkle for the holidays! What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is not as complicated as it looks! The reversible design is achieved by alternating a light and dark tone, using a combination of sc and long hdc which are worked into the previous row. The long hdc are worked with the light tone on odd rows and the dark tone on even rows creating the reversible effect. A length of thread is left at each end of the rows for the fringed placemat; the ends are woven in for the bordered placemat. The placemats are worked with two strands of thread held together. The vertical stripes are embroidered on the placemat using straight stitches. A design graph is also included with the pattern. The finished sizes are: 13-1/2" x 18" with Border 13-1/2" x 21" with Fringe This pattern is available for $4.00 and is written in U.S. terms.
