Basket Case

What are you most proud of? I'm proud that when the first attempt, I didn't settle. The shape had been lost due to some inadvertent stitch increases and realising I'd been doing it inside out. Thankfully Marty came to my rescue with some perfectly timed advice. It gave me the motivation to frog a lot of work, but end up with something I love. I also added a lot of increase rounds to the base as I have MASSIVE yarn storage needs. (28cm diameter). For this reason, I also modified the handles to be chunkier and longer for stability. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you've not done a lot of in-the-round crochet, or three-deminsional crochet (as in, there's a base and sides), don't get discouraged if it takes a couple of goes!

Q&A with immisceo

Judi33 asked:
That's beautiful.
immisceo answered:
Thank you so much! It's great to crochet something that's this functional. My yarn stash is much more "corralled" now.
jacky_sha4971102 asked:
The photos are so helpful and will inspire me to have another attempt at foundation stitches in a basket project. Well done ;)
immisceo answered:
Thank you! They can be tricky, but they're so handy for things like this. You can definitely do it!
jacky_sha4971102 asked:
Looks like a great wet weekend project (it's spring time here in New Zealand)!
immisceo answered:
Kia ora! A dear friend moved to Christchurch in April, so I mentally have my "seasonal maths" correct. He's delighted his "year of winter" is coming has come to an end! You're right - it's a perfect weekend project, and so easy to customise.
