PATTERN DETAILS

Trikone means triangle in Hindi (त्रिकोण : pronounced " thri - cone"). It literally translates to "three corners". This kerchief is made using the triangle stitch, and is a triangular project, so I think the name is apt. The trikone kerchief is crocheted sideways, and is adjustable for length and width. The instructions are for an increase section, followed by an 'even' section and finally of course, the decrease. For a perfect triangle, you could do just the increase and decrease sections, and for a longer 'kerchief', you increase the number of lines in the 'even' section. Gauge is not critical, a loose, light hand and light, thin yarn make longer, lacier triangles, and a lighter project. The pattern is written using U.S terminology, comes with a photo tutorial & chart. This has been rated as an Advanced beginner / Intermediate skill level by my testers. This pattern has been tested using : 1. Oswal mills 3-ply (light fingering) yarn , 4 mm (G) hook, 80 g / 456 yds ; 2.Phentex Fingering Tricot Fin, 4.5 mm hook, approx 80 gm, Gauge : 2 triangles x 1 repeat = 1" square 3.Premier Yarns Serenity Sock Weight Solids , 4 mm (G) hook, 460 yards, 100 grams 2 skeins = 460.0 yards (420.6m) 4.Deborah Norville Serenity Sock Weight yarn, 4.25 mm (G) hook, approximately 432 yards (94 grams), Gauge :6 triangles x 2 (4 row repeats) = 2.5" x 2.5" ; took about 7 hrs ; 5.Unbranded 3-ply acrylic, 70 gm, 4mm (G) hook ; and 6.Phildar Phil light ; 407 yds, 4 mm hook. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY ch, sc, hdc, dc GAUGE Gauge is not critical, but the designer achieved one of 2 triangle st (across) x 1 repeat (vertical)= 1". Gauge applicable for the yarn used, and varies even with 'tension' (looseness) of stitch/hand. The looser you work, the lighter & lacier the pattern. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 48" x 14" SUGGESTED YARN 450 yards of Fingering weight
