My husband and I absolutely love going to Maine, whether for a day trip, a camping trip, or a weekend getaway. Maine is known as the "Pinecone State" and so, I was inspired to make a pinecone shawl. The body of the shawl is very easy and fun to crochet. The directions for the border look long and complicated, but just take it one step at a time and you'll end up with a beautiful and unique shawl! This is a top down, triangle shawl, using any weight of yarn, any size hook, any gauge, to make a shawl any size! Designer used Metamorphosis Yarn by A Verb for Keeping Warm (70% superwash merino, 30% silk, 4 ounces / 385 yards), colorway Hyacinth, 1 skein. Less than one skein was actually used, and a size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook. Stitches used are single, double, and treble crochet. Pattern is rated intermediate. My name is Anastacia, and I am the scrap yarn/one skein queen. I buy my yarn mainly at yard sales/thrift stores, so I got used to making do with what I could find. So most of my patterns are designed to use up the odd skeins or leftovers in your life, and are geared towards beginner crocheters or those who just want a fast, easy, but still pretty item. I'm a 30 something adult living in MA. I’m married, have a wonderful cat named Wedgie, & I work full time. I also teach knitting & crocheting at my local Michael's & squeeze in designing as many hours as I can a week. I do love to hear from everyone, but please remember that I am busy, just like you, & will reply as soon as I can. All of my patterns use USA terms & abbreviations. I try to layout my patterns as simply as possible to save money for people printing at home. My patterns are as short as possible, usually with only one photo on the first page, which you can easily skip printing to save ink. .
