Legwarmers are very retro and 1980s. Maybe not too fashionable (it depends how you carry them off!) but as a garment, they are very useful. They are great for relaxing at home giving you some extra warmth in winter. Or why not use them as an extended boot cuff or outdoor legwarmer when walking or hiking? Making something that has to fit over your ankle and calf but that is not too loose and baggy is a challenge with crochet. Unlike knitting, crochet tends not to have so much sideways stretch. To compensate for that, I’ve designed this pattern to have a narrower cuff at the bottom and a stretchy leg section and wider cuff at the top. You can adapt the legwarmers to fit your leg shape by changing the number of stitches in your foundation round.
