Becky and Kenny had been trying to conceive for a long time, but without any luck. In 2012, they started the long process of Open Adoption. Through lots of "this may be the baby" and "no, it fell through," they finally got the call and Becky was in the delivery room when their Lydia was born. To celebrate the birth, I wanted some soft flannel for a receiving blanket. When I found a soft pink with darker pink ballet slippers I knew I had found my cloth . . . Miss Becky studied ballet all through her years in school. Next, I had to finish the unfinished cloth so I could add the edging (the pattern comes with a photo tutorial, from another blanket) that shows how to add the finishing of raw fabric edges so the crochet edging can be added. If you buy something finished for an edging, then you are one round up on the project! Then, the pattern just flowed out of my brain. Today, when I looked at the finished project, I thought the design looked like a crown. So a name was hatched, Lydia's (for the baby's name) Crown (for the looks of the finished edging. The pattern would look good if you stopped on round 3 or 4, but I like the 5th round to finish it off.
