This is a top down, beginner wrap/shawl/capelet that can be wrapped around you a multitude of ways or folded in half & worn as a scarf. You start at the top & increase every row until you get to almost your desired length & width, & then work the border. I made my sample in Lion Brand Lion Wool Solid, a 100% wool yarn that is listed as an aran weight, but any yarn/hook combination would work. It would also look lovely in a variety of stripes to use up your leftovers! The full name of this shawl actually is Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, a local lake near where I live. Most people call it Webster Lake, but us crazy "townies" enjoy spitting out the whole name to impress people. For ease in talking about the shawl, I decided to just shorten the name a bit. This shawl is related to, but is a bigger version of my "Webster Lake Shawl" - hence the two related, but different names. Thanks to sjregier5, flygirlual, mizmo, poodlemama9, & venutianbeauty for their test crocheting skills, and thank you to Chaitanya (cmuralidhara on Ravelry) for her tech editing. Feel free to make as many of these as you like for local craft fairs/auctions/raffles/bazaars, but please do not sell finished items online. The pattern itself is not for sale. If making for charity, please let me know the name of the charity & include my contact info with the item ( If you have any questions or comments or just want to join like-minded souls, please join my Ravelry group at Thanks! Anastacia Knits Designs
My name is Anastacia, and I am the scrap yarn/one skein queen. I buy my yarn mainly at yard sales/thrift stores, so I got used to making do with what I could find. So most of my patterns are designed to use up the odd skeins or leftovers in your life, and are geared towards beginner crocheters or those who just want a fast, easy, but still pretty item. I'm a 30 something adult living in MA. I’m married, have a wonderful cat named Wedgie, & I work full time. I also teach knitting & crocheting at my local Michael's & squeeze in designing as many hours as I can a week. I do love to hear from everyone, but please remember that I am busy, just like you, & will reply as soon as I can. All of my patterns use USA terms & abbreviations. I try to layout my patterns as simply as possible to save money for people printing at home. My patterns are as short as possible, usually with only one photo on the first page, which you can easily skip printing to save ink. .
