PATTERN DETAILS

I designed the first ladybug bracelet during a road trip to keep my two-year-old quiet in her car seat. The idea was to give her something bright and colorful to play with that she could not easily throw onto the floor (only to demand that it be returned to her). Lo and behold, it kept her busy in the car AND at the restaurant afterward! This cute project takes only about an hour and has instructions for toddler finishing as well as for older girls. You could even make just the ladybug as a backpack decoration for an older girl BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Chain Stitch (CH), Single Crochet (SC), Single Crochet Decrease (DECR) SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Ladybug - 2 inches (5 cm), bracelet length varies PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Red Heart Super Saver

Recommended with this pattern

  • US Size E hook (3.5 mm), yarn needle
  • Two buttons (one shirt-button sized and another about the size of a dime), thread

The Itsy Bitsy Spider Amigurumi Crochet
I'm a mom, a wife, a writer, a crocheter, a kisser of boo-boos, and a lover of touchable, colorful art. My daughter, Little Miss, is one of the big reasons I got into amigurimi crochet. After making afghans (and just about everything else) for more than 15 years -- I fell in love with a baby girl and have been making dolls to delight her ever since. She is my muse and my inspiration. My original amigurumi designs are 100% hand made with the same quality and attention to detail that I would want for my own daughter. And, each stitch I hook in each piece I make holds a story. You'll find some of the stories right in the item listings on my shop -- for instance, did you know that the tooth fairy turns stale gumdrops into colorful mice so people won't accidentally have dental emergencies? But, it is my hope that my creations' best stories are yet to be unlocked by the people who eventually receive them. I want to thank you for taking a few minutes to learn a little more about me and my work, and I hope you'll find something in my shop that starts a special story for you. Best wishes, Karla (The Itsy Bitsy Spider)
