I love old turn-of-the-century crochet patterns. I adapted this scarf from an edging pattern in a 1917 publication titled 'Corticelli Lessons in Crochet Book No. 2.' If you have ever tried to follow a very old crochet pattern you know that deciphering the instructions can be very confusing. My version is much easier to understand and to make. Although it looks complicated, this scarf is very easy to make - it uses a thick yarn and a large hook and can comfortably be completed in an evening! SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS neckwarmer: 5" wide by 21" long scarf: 5" wide by 55" long (or whatever length you prefer!)

Recommended with this pattern

  • Approximately 6 oz. of any 'thick and quick' type yarn such as Lion Brand Wool-Ease or Lion Brand Chenille
  • A size K crochet hook (English size 2, metric size 6.5)
  • Button (if you plan to make the neckwarmer)
