The Kotori Jacket is a very quick project to make, and easy enough for a beginner! Perfect for a last minute gift for a new arrival or special Birthday girl or boy :-) In a huge range of sizes, from newborn to 6 years old, you'll be able to keep all the little ones in your life warm with a Kotori Jacket. Made from the top down, all in one piece, so there's no seams to sew up at the end! Optional sleeves too! Materials: 4.5mm (#7) crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge as listed below) 170-670m (185-735yds) DK/8 ply/Light Worsted Weight yarn, with detailed amounts in size section. A small amount of contrasting yarn for trim, if desired. 3-6 15mm buttons (depending on jacket size made) Tapestry needles to weave in yarn ends Abbreviations (this pattern is written in standard British/Australian crochet terms, with U.S. crochet terms listed below in parenthesis): st/sts: stitch/stitches ch: chain dc: double crochet (U.S. sc: single crochet) tr: treble (U.S. dc: double crochet) dtr: double treble (U.S. tr: treble) sl st: slip stitch yo: yarn over Special Stitches - Inc: increase - 1tr, 1dtr, 1tr all in same stitch, therefore increasing 2 stitches and making a peaked corner for raglan shaped sleeves. Gauge/Tension: 15tr and 8 rows tr = 10cm (4") If you have more stitches, use a larger hook. If you have less stitches, use a smaller hook. Sizes: based on chest measurement, finished jacket is a little bigger, with some positive ease. For best fit, select size according to the childs chest measurement rather than age.
