I saw the round crochet vests in the store and thought they would make me look silly and middle aged (fluffy). I wanted something totally different and unexpected that had a beautiful drape and fitted nicely. Somehow the circle became an oblong and this is the result. It flatters and elongates your figure to make you look and feel trim and tall. Love it! This is not a true work in the round pattern, but looks like it, The pattern is a hybrid detailed receipe so it is easy to follow and less confusing than a standard pattern. This formula also makes it much easier to adjust to your size and requirements. It also looks great done in a solid single strand DK/ BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Single crochet, Double Crochet, Spike Stitch, Increase, decrease, work in the round, color changes, optional zipper, basic hand sewing GAUGE first 3 rounds should be about 6 1/2" across

I started crocheting when I was about 8 years old. I remember my grandmother was very religious and stood by the standard of no work on Sundays. I was caught designing a dress for a doll and got in serious trouble because to her it was work. To me it was fun! Serious difference of opinion there! I have been designing and crocheting since then, I picked up sewing at 10. My first project was a pair of pants that I sewed the fronts together and the backs together instead of a front to a back. Very awkward, but I finally figured it out! Now I make and design most of my own clothes in either medium and often put the two together to create something special.
