I was motivated to create this for my husband. He is a truck driver on the flat bed division. He must tarp and remove the tarps outside. Since most of his deliveries are within a 300 mile radius of Pennsylvania...he is working in the elements. Seeing as the hat is longer in the back, it hat eliminates the need for a scarf (which would get in the way of and possibly getting caught in the securing of chains and binders...not a pretty sight). It protects his ears from frostbite and keeps his head warm. A "must have" for anyone going out in the cold! This hat pattern is adult size. You are purchasing the pattern...NOT the finished product. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Basic stitches are used in this pattern: slip stitch, chain, single crochet, double crochet, decrease. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished hat measures approximately: 19 1/2" around at forehead, 7" from top of crown to edge at forehead, and 11" from top of crown to bottom edge at back of neck.

Supplies Needed

  • You will need: 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn either the same color or coordinating colors (I used approximately 3.1ounces) and a Size "P" crochet hook.

I have been crocheting for more than 45 years. My best friends grandma taught us the basics one summer and from then on...I was "hooked"! Most of everything I have made has been a gift for some one special. Afghans for adults, children and pets...household to name a few. Every item I have entered for our yearly fair has brought home a Blue, Red or White Ribbon. I started to design my own patterns about 5 years ago...Filet Crochet is my best selling pattern line. Thank you for your interest of my patterns! Be Well...Be Blessed!!! Maggie
