Pattern is written in 4 sizes from small woman's to standard mens (S, M, L, XL). It is also written in 3 gauges for multiple yarn choices. In addition, you can choose between basic, lacy, and textured stitch patterns and 3 different cuff styles. Lots of choices for your own special sock. Pattern is written for the basic sock, and then directions are given at the end for changes to make the clunky lace and woodsy sock versions. A career in structural engineering may seem a far cry from crochet design, but for me it doesn?t matter if I am building a concrete building or a granny square blanket. My approach to designing them is the same. I take a big project and break it down into little items that I can understand, then piece them back together for the big picture. In my book Blueprint Crochet: Modern Designs for the Visual Crocheter (Interweave Press, 2008), I used my engineering background and crochet symbols to bring crochet to new learners. Robyn?s latest book, Unexpected Afghans, from Interweave Press 2012, shows how to use classic crochet techniques for astoundingly innovative afghans. She is incredibly thankful to be able to design and write from home in Pittsburgh, PA while playing with her little ?office assistants?. She is also the author of Baby Blueprint Crochet, Simply Crochet, and Crochet Stitches Visual Encyclopedia (Wiley 2011).
