I created this dress for my daughter Brittney's blessing. The lacy crochet dress is made with a beaded empire bodice, and a loose open-front skirt. The diamond pattern is elegant with a pearl crocheted right into the center of each diamond. This pattern is for the crocheted dress only. It needs a simple slip sewn underneath. I just laid the dress on some soft linen, cut two the same size, and put in shoulder/side seams and a hem. It was made with size 20 cotton thread, which adds to the laciness of the dress. My daughter was 2 months old when these photos were taken, and the dress would have fit for no more than another 6-8 weeks. The ribbon closure in the front means that you can easily adjust the pattern smaller or larger as needed. To increase the size, a larger thread and hook could be used. My mom started teaching me to crochet when I was 6. I hated it. Fortunately, I tried it again when I was about 12, and haven't put it down since. I mostly crochet for my little ones. They are my inspiration and motivation for everything. I love looking around me and wondering how I can make THAT into a crochet project. I especially love when one of my munchkins comes to me and asks me to make something specific for them. It's delightfully fun!! I have posted many free patterns and tutorials for crocheting, quilting, and sewing on my blog:
