Gingerbread Recipe

Project Description

Share a little about the ingredients and techniques used to create this dish/item. See the recipe for ingredients. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This recipe makes a LOT of cookies. It can be used for very small houses that you plan to eat right away, but the cookies are too soft for larger structures. The dough can be refrigerated for several days or frozen for up to a month. In the past I have had good results when I cut the recipe in half even though I've used a whole egg rather than half an egg. I prefer lining the cookie sheets with with parchment paper to greasing them. The cookies seem to come out more evenly baked. I used a simple Royal Icing, M&Ms, & other small candies for decorating the cookies.

Thanks Bunches!!! Now I'm ready for next year!
K Lee 2Strings answered:
You're very welcome! They are also great in February if you use heart-shaped cookie cutters. :)

OMG! Thanks mom for sharing. Sounds yummy. I have some "party hats" cookie cutters, seems to me that would be a great adition to my New Year's dinner. Personally I thank this opportunity of meeting such a great lady. Best wishes for 2013, May come filled with health, joy, harmony, prospetity and love. Hugs
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Aww, thanks. So sweet of you. The cookies really are very tasty and I think they would make cute little party "hats".
Tanya W. asked:
The recipe is greatly appreciated, your decorating skills are awesome!
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Oh, Tanya, this is the easiest decorating possible. Squeeze on some frosting and plop a candy in the middle. lol
sewbug57 asked:
thank you !! Your cookies are so pretty! You should receive a prize for that decorating job.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
So glad you like them, but that decorating takes no skill. No effort at all to squeeze a dot of frosting onto a cookie and stick a candy in the middle. A few squiggles for arms and legs and done.
Lisa_Marie. asked:
Thank you for sharing! They look too pretty to eat. Beautifully decorated.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Oh, thank you! The decorating was really nothing, but the cookies are too tasty to avoid eating!
