I used a classic rolled sugar cookie dough combining flour, baking powder, unsalted butter, salt, eggs and vanilla extract. The cut out shapes come out of the oven perfect without distortion. To decorate, I chose a royal icing combining confectioner's sugar, meringue powder, water, lemon extract and food paste colorants. What are you most proud of? I'm so tickled that my first attempt to create a 3D cookie turned out so nice! Our guests were quite impressed! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Edible markers worked great for adding details like the wording and accent stripes on the sails. Use a stiffer version of your royal icing recipe when attaching the boat to the base cookie. The waves as well as a pouf on the backside help stabilize the cookie, but you't need to support the cookie while it sets up. Be ready to improvise!
