Winter Wonderland Contest 2013

Project Description

Do you sell this cake? Yes Link to website or online shop www.facebook.com/MyTemptationsBakeShop Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake My inspirations for this window display cake came from those brides who enjoy a winter wedding, something magical about the glittery snowflakes falling from the sky! The techniques I used to create this cake started with drawing snowflakes, then tracing and flooding them with Royal Icing. When stacking the cakes, I added a hexagon 8" tier to add more dimension to this tall cake. Cakes were covered in dark blue fondant then ribbons added. Bows and brooches were made from gumpaste and painted with clear piping gel to give it a shine. The longest part was adding each pearl dragee individually around the top of each tier and giving them the "falling" look to mimick icicles! Finally the Royal Icing snowflakes with each "glued" to the cake with more royal icing. It was challenging to get the snowflakes to hold on sideways, but it worked!!
