The Bold and Beautiful

Project Description

Do you sell this cake? Yes Name of website or online shop Betty's Heavenly Cake Decorating Link to website or online shop https://sites.google.com/site/wwwbettyscakedecoratingcom/ Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Bottom tier is dark chocolate with raspberry curd filling, second tier is red velvet with cream cheese filling, third tier is orange with orange buttercream filling, and the top tier is chocolate with almond buttercream filling. Each tier was iced very generously with buttercream and placed in frig to cool before covering with fondant. Bottom tier was completed on board before leaving for venue. The rest of the cake was put together at the reception site. As I put the tiers together, I placed several small dowel rods through at least three tiers and added some royal icing between the third and top tier. I then put the bands around the bottom, added the hand made fondant calla lilies, and then did the piping with royal icing on the corners of the purple tiers. Added the calla lilies to the top tier, placed the "C" and was very proud of the results.

Q&A with Ms. Betty

Garden Baker asked:
You definitely have reason to be proud! When I placed a square cake off center on another square cake, the corners of the cake board of the upper one separated a bit from the cake that was sitting on it. Did you ever have any issues like that?
Ms. Betty answered:
I have not. My cake board is a little smaller than the cake, that may help. Also, by having the strips of fondant around the bottom helps to hide things like that. And if all else fails, cover the board with a thin layer of royal icing, that should surely hold everything together.
