Shih Tzu Birthday Cake

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake chocolate cake, vanilla bean SMBC, fondant, petal dust What are you most proud of? I'm really happy I was able to really make them look like my mom's dogs. She photos to her friends and a lot of them thought she was just sending them another photo of her dogs and she had to explain it was actually a cake. By the way, she refused to eat the cakes. They will reside in the freezer for the foreseeable future. She said she wants to use it as a centerpiece for a Christmas party. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I was really nervous about carving the cake, but Elissa's instructions are really thorough and helpful. And being able to use the extra cake mixed with buttercream as spackle to fill in any mistakes was very freeing. So don't worry, it is really easy to fix it if you go too far with your carving. Also, if you want the dog to look just like your dog, take photos from every angle. It made a huge difference for me.
