Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake 4 tier wedding cake - Red velvet, Vanilla, carrot cake and a dummy for top tier. Coated with a thin layer of white marzipan and rolled out fondant. Roses were made with gumpaste and sprinked with magic rainbow sparkles What are you most proud of? The overall appearance of the cake - I felt that it met the requirements of the happy couple. The Cake had a clean finish and stacked well. Reaction from guests at the wedding was fantastic " that it tasted as good as it looked" and that It also cut beautifully! Flavours included - Bottom tier Red Velvet, 3rd tier Vanilla, 2nd tier carrot cake, and I used a dummy for top tier to give the cake more height. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Planning in the production and presentation of cake was a must! Prior to starting this project I attended a course in sugarpaste and royal icing - so combined the skills accquired into overall design. I watched a few videos on making the roses which was also a great help! Ensure that the cakes are level at the filling and coating stages- use a spirit level as a guide. As the main focus of a stacked cake is on the cake SIDE DESIGN- try different royal icing piping techniques on a cake dummy first -covered with sugarpaste/fondant .Create a pattern free hand for each tier on paper and trace design direct onto sides - using a scriber or needle . Use dowels to support tiers. I learnt alot in the making of this cake despite the daunting start!!!
