Roses In Production

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Gum paste What are you most proud of? Hand rolling the gum paste thin enough to look real. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Invest in a pasta roller or attachment for your mixer. If using commercial gum paste don't bother with Wilton - too dry. Make your own if you can. You don't have to have all the fancy supplies, but the tap pad and veiner help. I have roses so I clipped several leaves, washed them in soap and water, and used them to vein so I could match real life. Taping wires takes practice. Have fun

Q&A with wizardrose6

Carol52 asked:
Lovely roses. Can you please tell me what colouring you used it's a lovely shade!
wizardrose6 answered:
I used Wilton royal purple gel. If you use it and are making roses for a cake a week or more away don't store fondant and roses in a clear container. Left exposed to light they fade to gray. Mr. Lodge said to make the roses, steam, & store. I wrapped roses in black tissue paper and put them in an ornament box. Nicolas lodge has a no fade purple & pink I love.
